Message to clients regarding the partial government shut-down:

The Garland Housing Agency has been informed that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will continue providing housing assistance payments through the end of February. We will keep you informed as we learn more and post available updates here as they are relayed from HUD.

To HCV landlords:

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is one of nine federal agencies impacted by the current governmental shutdown. HUD provides 100% of the funding to agencies that administer the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, such as The Garland Housing Agency. It is through this formula allocation that the federal government provides budget authority to issue Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) to private market landlords who make units available for families participating in the HCV program.

The partial shutdown of the federal government, if continued, could delay future Housing Assistance Payments to landlords.  However, HUD’s current funding will allow for timely HAP disbursements to private market landlords through the month of February.  We will keep you informed as we learn more, and don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Please note that our offices are temporarily located at 232 Carver St. Building 2, Garland, TX 75040. The temporary office location is the same building where Annual Re-Examination meetings are held. This temporary relocation will allows us to do some much needed upgrades to our permanent location to better serve you.

The Garland Housing Staff will keep the same contact information (phone and email) and will still be available during the normal business hours observed by City of Garland staff.
